In a world where almost everyone and everything is connected to the Internet, it's a no-brainer to provide employees with access to corporate e-mail from outside the boundaries of the corporate network, like for example from home. There are various ways how to interact with Exchange remotely, including the use of smart phones, tablets or regular desktops and laptops. In the early days, the IT department usually had control over all these devices as well as what devices were allowed to connect. Nowadays, with the hype around Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD), it seems that companies stray away from this ideology and encourage people to use their own devices.
