Review SjoukjeExcellent exam guide, lining out the information needed to prepare for the AZ-103 exam. All topics of the exam come by, and a good understanding is built for the various services and products. More information can be found through the linked references, helping to built up more knowledge on those topics where it's needed.Overall the book is very well written, allowing for easy reading. Moreover, the extensive use of samples and screeshots ensure all information is transferred. Would recommend this guide if you want to have a thorough preperation on this exam.I was one of the first readers of the content as a technical reviewer, and I found that this exam guide is well written and contains the information to prepare for the AZ-103 exam, including the links to further readings. Note that in a hard copy version of the book, the links are a challenge - there are quite a few of them.Sjoukje describes all the exam topics in various chapters in a pleasant way and provides an excellent introduction of each. The text includes how to enable certain services and configuration. The mock questions at the end are an excellent primer for preparing for the exam.

As a technical reviewer for this book, I found this book to be a great resource for those preparing for the AZ-103 exam. Sjoukje did a great job on covering all exam topics in a pleasant and organized way that makes it easy for the reader to navigate through the book.I really appreciate the moc questions included in this book as it provides a quick way to evaluate and test what you've learned.

Considering that Azure is continuously changing and updating, this book is giving you a good structured way to start learning Azure. Unlike few years ago, these tech books are more of a starting point for then to google around and/or going to youTube for more in depth info on specific topics. At the same time, it will be very useful if you need to seat for the ever changing exams.

Microsoft has been working hard the past year revamping the Azure certification tracks, and unless you happen to know eveything about the topic already you are likely to need some assistance landing it all.All the bullet points you need are technically speaking listed on Microsoft's pages, but most likely these will not actually help you much towards your goal. Sjoukje's book is certainly of more help.The areas and individual topics are covered in a logical order. For instance it starts off with the basics of subscriptions, RBAC, etc. before getting into the nitty gritty of creating resources. Along the way examples are given as to how you can perform a series of sample tasks. Sometimes in Powershell, sometimes with screenshots from the Azure Portal. Having your computer nearby would probably be recommended, although some of the samples are understandable as a pure mental exercise.At the end of each chapter are a bunch of links to the official docs - sure I could have found these through a search engine or browsing docs.microsoft.com myself, but it does take less time when someone has done the work already. In the old days you would have these huge books that covered everything (Internet in the Windows NT days was a different experience), and I would love to see books like that again. Unfortunately we're realistically not going to see that again, and as such I'm not seeing other ways the author could have solved this without "sending you off" to other locations along the way even if it breaks the linearity. I must admit I haven't actually read all the links myself, but that's a "risk" on my part when preparing for exams. This does mean you cannot rely on this book alone, but along with the links you should be able to get there. (Microsoft Press would usually distinguish between "exam guides/references" and "training guides" which went into more details. Since it required way more effort to write these they would usually be published way after the exam became available.)I realize there is a limit to how much detail the author can go into with regards to the specifics of the exam questions, and I realize Microsoft can ask questions in a lot of different ways to throw you off, but it can sometimes be challenging memorizing long lists of Powershell parameters. And what is the "right" way to solve things - would I use Powershell or the Azure CLI? Ideally all samples could have been available with screenshots and both scripting flavors. But this is just me going into nitpicking mode - the important thing is still covering things on a higher level, and I do feel that is being done here :)
