Configuring standard repositories for use in a scale-out repository
The fundamental piece of the scale-out repository is the Performance extent, which is built by adding standard repositories. When creating a standard repository, you need to decide on the type you will use, whether it be Windows (ReFS) or Linux (XFS). You should use one or the other but not both together. While the documentation indicates that you can mix the repository types, most will agree that you use only one kind per scale-out for ease of management as well as having the same filesystem and performance. These filesystems use a newer technology called Fast Clone, which increases the speed of synthetic backup creation and transformation, reduces disk space, and decreases the load on storage.
