- Requires significant engineering work to implement (at least two weeks)
- Involves a significant change to the JDK or its infrastructure
- Is a high demand item from Java developers or users
- Draft—this is the earliest state and is used when the JEP has been written and the author is circulating it for consensus.
- Posted—once the author obtains consensus, the JEP can be logged into the JEP Archive.
- Submitted—the author sets this status once the JEP is deemed ready for formal evaluation.
- Candidate—once the OpenJDK Lead accepts the JEP, and it is changed to this state.
- Funded—funded indicates a functional area lead or a group lead has judged the JEP to be fully funded.
