Configuring OPcache, Redis, and Memcached
The default caching mechanism of Magento is based on file caching. All the cache files are written to the var/cache
folder. For a simple webshop, this is enough, but if you are scaling your shop with many products and high traffic, you will need to use some extra caching systems.
Redis is a replacement of the standard file caching of Magento. This system works faster when you have a lot of cache files.
Memcached is similar to Redis. It is a system in which you can cache objects.
Zend OPcache is an opcode caching system. When these caching techniques are enabled, the PHP code will be cached to these systems.
