Defining the sun's direction


It is remarkable how little things, such as defining the Sun's direction, have the most considerable amount of impact on a project. Throughout the production process, we may need to adjust the Sun's direction to have a clear view of the project; however, in due course, we will get to a point where we will need to define the final orientation that we are going to use to produce a still image or a movie.

Getting ready

For this recipe, you need to verify the quality of the 3D model used in the Build mode so that you can check the shadows and see how the Sun transforms the environment. You need at least a medium quality editor (press the F2 key) to see the shadows created by the Sun.

How to do it…

To adjust the Sun's orientation, perform the following steps:

  1. On the left-hand side of the screen, select the Weather menu.

  2. With this menu, different tools will become available, as you can see in the following screenshot:
