Information architecture — wireframes and storyboards
Portals differ from pure J2EE applications in many ways from a component, engine, and API perspective, but one of them is the concept of many portlets on the same page, which is very unique in nature. One crucial deliverable in a portal engagement is the information architecture work, which produces a wireframe, or storyboard, of the role-based portal pages and their flows, actions, potential page wires, portlet-to-portlet communication, and associated services and data points to be consumed by the portlet. The wireframe has the mission to illustrate and allow information architects to work with Application and infrastructure architects in creating a traceability of the POM to SOA and data layers.
