Using Tivoli Performance Viewer
IBM includes a tool for monitoring and tuning a WebSphere Application Server called Tivoli Performance Viewer (TPV). This tool is embedded in the admin console. For a quick look at TPV history. In Version 4.0 of WAS, TPV was originally named the Resource Analyzer. In Version 5.0, TPV was implemented as a standalone Java application. In Versions 6.0.x and onwards, TPV is embedded in the Administrative console and provides a graphical display to show live activity.
By using TPV, you can view summary reports, or log Performance Monitoring Infrastructure (PMI) performance data in real time. You can also save logging data as XML files. You can later play back the logged data (saved XML files) through the TPV to see what happened during a recorded logging session over a particular time period.
