The administrative agent
You can use the administrative agent to remotely install applications on application servers, change application server configurations, stop and restart application servers, and create additional application servers from a single administrative console. This is a concept similar to the approach that WebSphere 8 Network Deployment (WAS ND) takes. However, WAS 8 provides some of the WAS ND administrative features without the cost and complexity associated with WAS ND.
Before we continue, we will need to reconfigure our current WAS installation to create an administrative agent profile and another application server profile. Then, we will be able to use a single Administrative console to manage two application servers, as shown in the preceding image.
