In legacy interVLAN routing (see Figure 6.7), the router has multiple interfaces where each interface connects to a certain VLAN. After assigning IP addresses both on the PCs and router interfaces, where each one belongs to a certain subnet, the router can then perform interVLAN routing. Therefore, this section describes how to configure legacy interVLAN routing on a Cisco router:

The following represents the configurations on a router, as well as displaying the routing table on a router. To configure a switch, and to verify the VLAN information on a switch, see section Configuring legacy Inter-VLAN routing, in Chapter 4, Setting up the Switch:
