In the preceding chapters, we demonstrated the ability to use different serverless environments to store files and database content, provide content distribution and caching, implement messaging, and coordinate tasks within the AWS cloud. To process information, the AWS environment offers another serverless environment that can be run on demand and with the greatest of ease. This is probably the most powerful component of the AWS cloud: the AWS Lambda service.
The following topics will be covered in this chapter:
- Introduction to AWS Lambda
- Supported languages
- Creating a Lambda function
- Supported AWS services
- Business cases
