In this chapter, we took a look at the requirements and details when connecting on-premises and cloud environments. Starting with an overview of general requirements, we worked our way to VPNs and Direct Connect connections, and described the approaches to making the connections secure and encrypted, as well as offering a glimpse into how to make these connections highly available.
In the next chapter, we will discuss the Elastic Load Balancer (ELB) and the ability to use the ELB to securely distribute traffic across our EC2 instances and ECS containers.
