Using the Lasso Trim tool to add and remove geometry

We have one more technique to show off in this chapter. We'll be heading back to Sculpt Mode to try out the Lasso Trim tool. This tool offers an artistic approach to base mesh creation that 2D artists will appreciate. With this tool, we can draw shapes that become 3D geometry.

Getting ready

We'll start this section with a fresh Blender scene by using the File | New | Sculpting preset. Once we have our fresh scene, we can get started.

How to do it…

We're going to start by activating the Lasso Trim tool, which is hidden underneath the Box Trim tool:

  1. Find the Box Trim tool on the Toolbar. This tool has a small arrow indicator in the bottom-right corner to let us know that there are similar tools stacked underneath it.
  2. Click and hold the Box Trim tool to open a list of similar tools.
  3. Choose the Lasso Trim tool from the list.
