Summary
In this chapter, we discussed the high availability features of Hyper-V Server in a Microsoft Failover Cluster. We learned the related definitions and how they are employed in a Service Level Agreement. We instructed the creation and deployment of a highly available virtual machine. We learned about other ways we can leverage a Hyper-V Server cluster to provide high availability. We saw how a cluster operates when a failure occurs and how to configure virtual machines to react as you wish. We learned about quorum, how to configure it, and how it works in a failure condition. Finally, we learned about snapshots and how they can provide high availability for your virtual machines.
At this stage, we have enough information to design, deploy, and operate a fully functional Hyper-V Server cluster. In the next chapter, we will learn how to protect it and its virtual machines in situations that high availability cannot address.
