Description

Dynamics AX 2012 is a modern ERP solution from Microsoft that is targeted at the mid-and-high-level organizations. "Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Reporting Cookbook" focuses mainly on the reporting aspects of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. Reports play a very central role in an ERP system being accessible to customers, vendors, top management and the shop floor. "Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Reporting Cookbook" deals with the SSRS-based reporting framework introduced with Dynamics AX 2012. It explains the reporting model in detail and offers instruction-led examples to help you understand the nuances involved in developing a report. Throughout this book, you will learn how to build your own reports based on Queries, RDP, and different designs like Auto/Precision designs. Overall, this book will guarantee you a deeper understanding of report development in Dynamics AX.

Who is this book for?

"Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Reporting Cookbook" is recommended for Dynamics AX developers and .NET-based SSRS developers looking to familiarize themselves with the AX reporting framework. Kamalakannan Elangovan has written a comprehensive book about reporting with SSRS in AX 2012.This book is extremely useful for AX developers writing SSRS reports, whether they are beginners or more experienced developers. If you are just buying one book about reports with AX the year, this must be it. Otherwise, I suggest you buy the other released book too, “Developing SSRS Reports for Dynamics AX”. They complement each other very good.I am very happy to see that this book is not all a about the happy path where everything just works. It means a lot to me to see troubleshooting, debugging, upgrade issues and unit testing be a part of the book.

After reading through this book I can say that I do have a better understanding on the reporting structure. This book would have been much better utilized in the hands of a developer but its value to me was that in understanding the framework I can better model customized reports in my functional design documents.Being that I do not create reports normally I would say that this was a nice read and was written in a way that functional consultants could understand. This book would be great for developers and client side report writers as well.

The reporting is a buzz word in the ERP world. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Reporting Cookbook is a great guide to reporting insights how to develop, design, programming models, and introducing the tabular reporting.I encourage developers to have this book on their shelves, it is very helpful and useful content. Simply good work

I bought this book yesterday while working on a data provider class in AX 2012. Within the first 1/2 hour I found code examples that sped up my debugging and testing process. I will go through the book in more detail, but in the first 24 hours, it has been a great help. Already worth the price to purchase a digital copy.

This is a very nice book. As a developer coming from AX2009 and earlier version it can be quite a struggle to get familiar with the new SSRS setup in AX2012. Coming from the old AX report this books is really a good help. It will help you getting up to speed quickly and be able to deliver good reports using Visual Studio and SSRS. Reporting cookbook gives you a good overview of the new structure and an easy way into the new SSRS experience. This book is definitely a must have working with reports in the AX2012. I haven't been done much report development in the older version but was quite stunned by the switch to SSRS. After I've gone through this book I feel I'm back on track and actually feel I have a much better base then I had using the old report tool in the AOT. The reporting cookbook also covers more advanced examples that will help you deliver advanced reports. There are plenty of nice examples that will help you through the users requirements.[...]
