Voluntary administrative tasks and benefits
There are a lot of administrative benefits that your company may offer and it makes sense to at least be aware of what these are. You will not use all of them, or even most, but knowing about work perks, as they are sometimes referred to, can be helpful to you. Even being able to point them out to another employee who was not aware a certain administrative perk existed would be beneficial. When I was at Symantec, they offered a few hundred dollars annually that we could use toward a health club membership or for sessions with a physical trainer. It was a nice benefit and one that was not well known. As long as you provided the receipt for the training session, it was simply added to your expense report and you would be reimbursed. If you didn’t know about it, you wouldn’t know to use it and that is money out of your pocket. As we said earlier, never leave money on the table!
