LAStools and Fusion
The LAStools and Fusion algorithms offer powerful tools for working with LIDAR data through the Processing Toolbox. The LAS prefix refers to the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) laser file format, which can be viewed and manipulated using both of these tools. Once either of these tools are used to view, manipulate and then export data out of the LAS or LAZ (a compressed version of LAS), the resulting data can be accessed by any of the tools in the Processing Toolbox. Therefore this section will illustrate how to view and convert LiDAR data into raster layers that can be used for a variety of spatial analyses.
