Starting from QGIS 3, QGIS now has its own 3D views capable and built-in instead of resorting to the assistance of any plugins. You can create 3D views by clicking on View | New 3D Map View.
Here, we will use the QGIS terrain.qgs project to generate a view of the Sandia Mountains outside Albuquerque, NM. The project has two layers: a styled Digital Elevation Model (DEM), and a hillshade layer. The hillshade layer has been set up with a multiply blending mode to create a color hillshade effect.
To generate the 3D view, follow these steps:
