Summary
In this chapter, we covered adding and removing SW and the basics of the different user application containers. We looked at the most common SW for daily use – mail clients, office suites, and browsers. We explored image and video-related SW, showing the might of FOSS.
Chapter 6 will continue with music, audio, messaging, and text editors. Further, we will see how many more application categories have been developed for Linux and investigate the already actively developed area of Linux gaming. The last part of the chapter is dedicated to the conversion of deb and rpm packages and the usage of Windows SW.
