How to manage the relationship with your regulator

I am not sure whether most of you will agree with me on this statement, but your regulator should be perceived as one of the main stakeholders of your DevOps 360° evolution ecosystem (which we have come across in Chapter 3, The DevOps 360° Operating Model Pillars and Governance Model). How you handle this relationship will prove to be quite strategic in your DevOps evolution. While shaping your tactics, you should take two facts into consideration. Firstly, your regulator does not have the desire to punish you or make you fail. Quite the opposite, based on my experience, or as an ex-peer of mine used to say: “It is just basic hygiene and good practices that they are asking for.” At the end of the day, it is their job to protect society, the economy, and your bank.
