Over the course of this chapter, we have highlighted the initial elements of migrating to Cloud Run on GKE. Containers are fundamental to working with Kubernetes and provide a solid foundation on which to build both experience and expertise. To gain experience with the platform, we deployed a simple web application that illustrated many of the common elements that will need to be mastered as part of developing with Cloud Run on GKE.
The additional complexity of managing a Kubernetes environment should not dissuade you from using this platform. While serverless does provide many benefits already alluded to in this book, having a self-healing platform supporting critical infrastructure should provide additional comfort.
