Burning a Blu-ray or DVD
While Apple is slowly but surely cutting the cord on optical media from its computer lineup, plenty of existing Macs still have DVD burners and plenty of clients out there still have a want for their projects on optical discs. Macs never have, and likely never will, come with pre-installed with a Blu-ray burner, so if you have the need for burning to Blu-ray, you'll need to pick up an external one or get advanced and install an internal one. They can be purchased relatively inexpensively these days.
Additionally, while DVD Studio Pro and iDVD have been axed from the Apple software lineup, FCPX provides limited disc burning capabilities. It does the job, but don't expect to make any fancy menu screens. This is pretty quick and simple work.
How to do it...
1. Open the project you want to burn and choose Share | Blu-ray or Share | DVD. The menu screens are almost identical, with a few differences we'll point out in the following two screenshots:
