Modeling three future state objectives
This section provides instructions on conducting future state mapping exercises across three phases, involving analyzing customer demands, continuous flows, and leveling. The following list contains quick descriptions of the work involved in each phase:
- Customer demand phase: This includes analyzing customer demands for your products or services so that they include quality objectives and lead time.
- Continuous flow phase: This helps improve flows so that our customers receive the right products or services at the right time and with the right features and quantities.
- Leveling phase: This helps distribute work evenly across product lines, reduce waiting times, and eliminate batch processing (that is, the goal is to achieve single-piece flows).
While there is likely to be overlap between the three phases, the initial analysis will follow these three stages.
