Summary
In this chapter, you got an overview of the design of VMware vSAN on the VxRail 7.x system, including FTMs, FTT, and SWs. You now understand the relationships of vSAN objects and components on the different vSAN storage policies – for example, RAID-1 and RAID-5. Based on the different scenarios, you understand the benefits of the vSAN storage policy and how to offload the daily operations in a virtualization environment. If the storage resource requirements on a VxRail 7.x system are ready, you can update the vSAN storage policy at any time without disrupting the service of the VMs.
In the next chapter, you will learn about VxRail cluster expansion, including VxRail scale-out rules, disk group upgrades, and node upgrades.
