Connecting an idea to an epic in Jira

At this point, we’re starting to move from ideation to implementation. This will require us to move from JPD to Jira. Let’s see how the handoff is done.

Getting ready

As we saw in the Delivering ideas for development in Jira recipe in Chapter 2, before creating an epic, please verify the following:

There is at least one Jira project available to contain the epic.
The person creating the epic has the appropriate permissions to create the epic in the target project. This same person should be a member of the JPD project or a Jira admin.

When both conditions are met, it’s easy to create an epic as a delivery ticket in JPD.
