Implement model-based systems engineering, including visualization, verification, and validation processes
Explore the complexity of a system and learn how it can be commissioned as an effective resource
Filled with comprehensive explanations, practical examples and self assessment tests
Description
Systems engineering helps in developing and describing complex systems. Written by an internationally-recognized systems engineering expert, this updated edition provides insight into elements to consider when designing a complex system that is robust and successful.
The latest edition covers the new approaches of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and its deployment techniques using the Trinity approach. You will learn about the system engineering life cycle and processes to implement. Effective systems can be built only when the system is designed with close attention to detail, meaning each aspect of the system is recognized and understood before the system is built. The book explains in great detail, different system models and visualization techniques, with a focus on SysML, to help you visualize a system in the design phase. You will also learn various verification and validation techniques to ensure your system design is ready to be implemented. The book ends with key management processes, systems engineering best practices, and guidelines, with a new section on effective approaches based on the author’s impressive 30 years of experience in the field.
By the end of this systems engineering book, you'll be able to apply modern model-based systems engineering techniques to your own systems and projects.
Who is this book for?
This book is for aspiring systems engineers, engineering managers, or anyone looking to apply systems engineering practices to their systems and projects. While a well-structured, model-based approach to systems engineering is an essential skill for engineers of all disciplines, many companies are finding that new graduates have little understanding of MBSE. This book helps you acquire this skill with the help of a simple and practical approach to developing successful systems. No prior knowledge of systems engineering or modeling is required to get started with this book.
What you will learn
Study the three evils of systems engineering: complexity, ambiguous communication, lack of understanding
Learn how to deploy MBSE using the Trinity approach
Receive invaluable information about the philosophy of modeling from a seasoned professional
Understand the MBSE life cycle and how design, verification, and validation fit into it
Explore processes and concepts such as activities, stakeholders, and resources
Discover how needs fit into the life cycle and how to comply with relevant processes
Gain a deeper understanding of how to model effectively and efficiently
I recently completed a read on Systems Engineering by @Packt. For anyone new to SE, or considering a transition into SE, this is one of the books you need to read. It provides a comprehension background on SE came about and why it has become so important in today’s complicated tech market. Initially use in the aerospace/defense industry it has become a necessity in the development medical devices, automotive, and communications industries. Achieving autonomy in ground and air vehicles also requires the use of SE. And you’ll learn that SE is more than just requirements, it’s a look at the entire lifecycle of a system. For experienced SEs the chapters on MBSE are a great learning aid in addressing this new addition to the practice and understanding how this is changing SE. While many organizations remain document focused the transition to MBSE is coming and all SEs should prepare themselves for the application of MBSE.This book is also a resource for SE managers in helping their teams develop skills and apply these too projects. The introduction of MBSE is a challenge for any organization, finding the right project to pilot MBSE on, and developing SMEs that can then be a resource for other teams and projects is essential. Managers need to be able to address the When, What and Why questions when introducing MBSE. These questions address – When is the time to do this, never a perfect time; What project should we do this on and the Why – if this is the path companies are following can we afford to be behind competitors or if a supplier not working the same as a customer. This is also a useful read for non-SEs, providing an overview of how SE work is done and why it is essential to project success. All disciplines of engineering and project/program leaders on a project will find this book of value.I recommend this book as a resource for both experienced and new to systems engineering professionals.

Systems Engineering Demystified by Jon Holt offers a great introduction into the field of Systems Engineering.Although this book starts from the basics ('what is Systems Engineering'), more seasoned engineers will probably still find value in the later chapters. The book is well illustrated and starts of steady with a broad and detailed definition of the field of Systems Engineering. The text is clarified throughout using diagrams which form the basis of the MBSE methodology that is introduced in the second chapter. This allows one to become familiar with this type of notation at a steady pace, which is important as it forms the basis for a modern Systems Engineering approach. I particularly like that the book also includes a chapter on how one can introduce the methodology into an organisation. Something which I haven't yet seen yet in other Systems Engineering books.Overall the author, Jon Holt, succeeded in creating a very readable and well structured reference book that touches on a all the basics of Systems Engineering and MBSE.
Jon Holt is an internationally-recognized expert in the field of model-based systems engineering. He is an international award-winning author and public speaker and has authored 17 books on systems engineering, including a children's STEM book. Jon currently works for Scarecrow Consultants, holds a Chair in systems engineering at Cranfield University, and is a Fellow of both the IET and the BCS. He is currently the technical director of INCOSE UK and, in 2015, was identified as one of the 25 most-influential systems engineers in the last 25 years by INCOSE. He is also actively involved in the promotion of STEM where he uses magic, mind-reading, and occasional escapology to promote systems engineering at various festivals.

How do I know my custom duty charges?
The amount of duty payable varies greatly depending on the imported goods, the country of origin and several other factors like the total invoice amount or dimensions like weight, and other such criteria applicable in your country.
For example:
If you live in Mexico, and the declared value of your ordered items is over $ 50, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 19% which will be $ 9.50 to the courier service.
Whereas if you live in Turkey, and the declared value of your ordered items is over € 22, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 18% which will be € 3.96 to the courier service.
