Microsoft 365 services are generally accessed over the public internet. In this section, we'll discuss how users will access the Microsoft 365 service and how data will flow to, and be stored in, the service.
Administrators need to understand the following concepts when considering Microsoft 365 in terms of networking:
- Connectivity
- Encryption
- Performance
In the upcoming sections, we'll look at these in a detailed manner.
Connectivity
As a cloud service, Microsoft 365 components are not available on the internal network. Network administrators must allow internal users to access the internet endpoints for the Microsoft 365 service, which may mean configuring existing appliances such as firewalls and proxy devices.
