The instruments of LMMS
In LMMS, we can load audio samples into our session, but the main ingredients of our project will be software instruments, which I will occasionally be calling synths, which is shorthand for synthesizer (except for the Audio File Player; I will explain why later).
The LMMS instruments all have very similar layouts, and they also each have their individual personalities. Some instruments are better at creating pads, some are better for leads, some emulate strings, and some emulate old computer chip synthesizers from ancient computers. We're going to first explain the language of synthesis so that we have a good foundation for programming instruments, then we will explore the differences between the instruments built into LMMS.
