Technical requirements
In this chapter, we can continue to use the same Ubuntu virtual machine (VM) or workstation that we've been using to date, as this is a learning exercise. Even in sections where we're acting as both a CA and a certificate applicant, the examples in this section can all be completed on this single host.
Given that we're building a certificate server, though, if you are using this guide to help in building a production host, it's strongly suggested that you build this on a separate host or VM. A VM is preferred for a production service—read the Securing your CA infrastructure section for more on this recommendation.
