Summary

In this chapter, we learned about the communication technologies that are available in the Logix controller family. We investigated the strengths and limitations of each communication method and took a deep dive into EtherNet/IP and EtherNet/IP Capacity Tool. We explored RSLinx and its place within Integrated Architecture as the communications gateway. We also established communication with a ControlLogix L7x using the USB cable. Finally, we introduced the easy-to-use IAB mobile app for designing your Logix networks.

In the next chapter, we will introduce the modules that are available on the Logix platform and demonstrate their configuration with RSLogix 5000/Logix Designer.
