Defining vSAN storage policies
In this section, we will discuss an overview of VM storage policy rules and the configuration of VM storage policies. This includes storage providers, VM storage policy rules, and creating and monitoring VM storage policies in vCenter Server.
Overview of VM storage policies
Storage providers are software Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that are available from VMware or other storage vendors to enable vSphere APIs for Storage Awareness (VASA). Storage providers can integrate with different storage and software-defined storage (for example, VMware vSAN and virtual volumes).
When we initially set up a VxRail cluster, it will automatically configure the vSAN storage provider for each VxRail node in the cluster. We can find the vSAN storage provider information in the Configure tab of vCenter Server and select Storage Providers.
