Full database recovery
In the event a database is unusable or corrupted, this type of recovery, also known as version recovery, will recover the whole database from a backup. The database will be an exact image of itself at the time the backup was made. Transactions entered after the backup will be lost. Here, we will discuss a restore for an archive logging database.
Getting ready
Allow for downtime, since users cannot access a database during recovery. A restore is necessary before doing recovery.
How to do it...
Quiesce the database:
[db2inst1@nodedb21 ~]$ db2 "CONNECT TO POS" Database Connection Information Database server = DB2/LINUXX8664 9.7.4 SQL authorization ID = DB2INST1 Local database alias = POS [db2inst1@nodedb21 ~]$ db2 "QUIESCE DATABASE IMMEDIATE FORCE CONN ECTIONS" DB20000I The QUIESCE DATABASE command completed successfully. [db2inst1@nodedb21 ~]$ db2 "CONNECT RESET" DB20000I The SQL command completed successfully.
