Organizing enterprise information assets
Enterprise information assets are the center of the universe from which organizations derive their knowledge to conduct their business efficiently, in compliance with any/all regulatory requirements they are bound to, and to serve their customers more effectively.
Information assets can be broadly classified as business assets and technical assets. Business assets include the taxonomy of business terminology, organizational governance policies, and the governance rules that help enforce governance policies, while technical assets include all assets that relate to enterprise applications, the underlying data repositories, data files that support the enterprise applications, and any middleware technologies that enable independent applications and services to exchange information.
