Assessing the modernization maturity level
The modernization maturity level helps you to understand the current state of the applications and foresee the risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies of the modernization process. It helps to plan the next step for the modernization program efficiently. The higher the maturity level is for any organization, the lower the required effort and budget for modernization. Table 2.3 shows the modernization maturity model. The maturity model focuses on the maturity level of the current platform, applications, data, and day-two operations. An organization needs to scope different components in Table 2.3 based on the current maturity level. An organization can be at a different level for different components. For example, they can currently be on level 3 in terms of the platform, but their applications are containerized, so they are on level 5 for applications.
