Processes management in the ideal system
Our ideal system handles data and can make decisions on it with business rules, but what makes it tick? In Chapter 4, we stressed that everything is a question of time, but nothing has the role of putting the data and rules in controlled, time-based, motion. This will be the role of the process engine.
Processes as the brain of the information system
Coming back to our metaphor of the human body, you may have guessed that business process management, as the module that orchestrates the actions of applications containing the business rules over the data, can be associated with the control tower that is the brain.
