Designing and Implementing FinOps KPIs
The need to keep track of our business objectives is not exclusive to FinOps practices. All companies need a way to quantify or measure their results and achievements in line with their previously established targets. One of the best ways to do this is to use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which help us obtain key insights for our business.
In this chapter, we will introduce what a KPI is, and how KPIs can be used to fuel and give more visibility to our FinOps practices. KPIs are the key to discerning whether we are on the right track with our FinOps practices, providing us with quantifiable means to measure progress and success, which is essential to FinOps sponsors, management, and key stakeholders to keep the practice alive (as well as its budget).
