Creating and Using Tables
In this chapter, we will learn how to create a blank table that can be used to display a wide range of data. We will learn how to generate a new table from existing text, select and reorder rows and columns, insert and delete rows and columns, and create alternating strokes and fills. As this chapter progresses, we will merge and split cells, convert a body row into a header row, and even include images within our tables.
Before continuing, it is worth noting that tables won’t perform calculations in the same way as traditional spreadsheet software – they are very much a design feature. That said, they can be a powerful way to communicate often complex content in a way that is easy to interpret and understand.
