Typically, you will start gathering information slowly. So, first, you'd start with a Google search, then you'd check out the target's website, and then you'd go deeper. For the sake of organization, I will show you what you can find out through four major categories: search engines, the organization's website, what companies give away (which is not necessarily on their website), and, finally, employees.

I will show you the tools and methods you need to gather data for your TIP. We'll even use some tools you're familiar with, but we'll leverage them a little differently. Fire up your computer. Let's get going!

Let's start with the basics

Here is a website that you can practice attacks on. It's called HackThisSite.org (https://hackthissite.org/), and it's a free site that hackers use as a training ground to test some stuff out. It also has some stuff on it – blogs, news releases, and so on.
