Determining a New Architecture for Existing Workloads
In the previous chapter, you learned about the various tools and services that you as a solutions architect can leverage to plan, prepare for, and execute a successful migration.
This chapter will focus on the new cloud environment in which the migrated workloads will operate. We will cover the architectural aspects of your new cloud environment, such as selecting the right compute for your new workloads, how to transition the newly migrated workloads to managed container platforms, and how to select the right storage and database services to match the newly migrated workload’s cloud environment. Throughout the chapter, we will be assuming a standard, three-tiered application as a potential migration and modernization candidate. However, most of the design considerations and services discussed in this chapter can apply to other modernization use cases as well.
