Using Unreal Engine’s Facial Control Rig
In the previous section, you learned how to use a pre-made animation and FK Control Rig to add a custom keyframe animation. By default, the MetaHumans come expressionless, so in this section, we will add facial expressions to Adam and Eve using the Face_ControlBoard_CtrlRig track.
Just like the Body Control Rig, the Facial Control Rig provides a system of controls, parameters, and connections that allow animators and creators to modify the facial features and expressions of a MetaHuman character. This includes controlling various aspects of the face, such as eyebrow movement, eye blinking, lip curling, and more. The rig simplifies the process of creating intricate facial animations by providing a user-friendly interface and a set of pre-built controls that are intuitive to use:
