Prep Interface

In this section, you will look at the options available in Tableau Prep for data transformation. Tableau Prep can be downloaded from the Tableau website (https://www.tableau.com/products/prep) and installed like any other program. You can find detailed installation steps in the Preface. Once the installation is complete, navigate to your desktop and click on the Tableau Prep icon to open it.

When you open Prep for the first time, it will look like this:

The Connections tab (top-left corner), shows all data sources that can be connected in the prep. This is similar to the Connect pane in Tableau Desktop. (Chapter 2, Data Preparation Using Tableau Desktop.)
