Building a Proactive Layered Defense Strategy
In the final chapter of Part 2, we’ll bring together the insights gathered from previous sections to explore the key elements of a proactive Defense in Depth (DiD) security plan. Our aim is to integrate the various aspects of attacker perspectives and create a security framework that effectively counters even the most determined and sophisticated threat actors.
To recap, in Chapter 3, Building a Framework for Layered Security, we equipped ourselves with a systematic approach to building a robust defense program with organizational risk as our guiding principle. Then, we started Part 2 by shifting our perspective from a defensive mindset to more of an attacker mindset. We extensively researched the attacker mindset in Chapter 4 by gaining invaluable insights into their tactics and motivations, followed by our exploration of using an adversarial lens to uncover weaknesses in our systems in Chapter 5.
