Monitoring and Security

This chapter focuses on the monitoring capabilities and responsibilities for resources and services in Azure. Monitoring leads into and is part of the overall security considerations for Azure. A number of the Azure monitoring and security solutions can also expand beyond Azure to bring benefit to on premises and even other clouds. I want to stress that this book is focused on architecture, not operations; therefore, my priority is to walk through what is available and how you can use it in a complete solution, as opposed to the specifics of using a technology, although I’ll still show that for critical functionalities.

• Use native Azure monitoring capabilities and evaluate to trigger actions.
• Architect security processes for resources in Azure.
