Time for action—exploring different synthesis methods

Now that we've heard the mix of different oscillators together, it's time to explore using the oscillators of the Triple Oscillator instrument to affect each other.

  1. Put a new Triple Oscillator instrument in the Song Editor:
  2. Be sure that only the new instrument is playing. Mute other tracks, and turn the volume on the new Triple Oscillator instrument that you just put in the Song Editor down to approximately -18 dB:

  3. Now click on the instrument to open its parameters. Set the volume of Oscillators 2 and 3 to 0.
  4. Hold Y down on your computer keyboard. You will hear the note value of A. It should sound like a very simple sine wave.
  5. Click on the PM tab:

  6. Record a note playing in the song editor so we can hear the changes we are making in this instrument. Start to adjust the volume of Oscillator 2. Listen to the result.
  7. Now set the volume of Oscillator 2 to 25%.
  8. While holding down the Y key, start adjusting the Crs knob.
