Relinking missing media
Generally, Final Cut Pro is very good at keeping track of where media is located on your disks, even when you move libraries and original footage to different folders. What it can’t do is keep track of media that has been trashed or is on a disk that is no longer attached to the computer. This is particularly an issue when you are linked to files that are in cloud storage and the internet goes offline.
You will find that if you attach a missing disk, Final Cut Pro will find most of the files, but for some reason, not all the files will be found, even when the internet is back online.
There are occasions when files will be missing in the browser and hence also in any projects that they have been used in. It is a fairly familiar sight for the red warning to show in the viewer. You will be less likely to have the issue if you store your media using the In Library option rather than the Leave Files in Place option.
