Setting up a GitLab server on a Linux instance
To set up the server, an omnibus package installation is recommended. We will install the GitLab Community Edition on an Ubuntu 16.04 server. You can install GitLab on other operating systems such as Ubuntu, Centos, Debian, and so on; you can find a list here: https://about.gitlab.com/installation/. An omnibus package installation is the recommended method by GitLab itself, as the set up is easy and the upgrade process is also painless.
