Enabling and changing rulers
Whether you are working with single pages or spreads (a single unified area made up of multiple pages), Rulers can be an incredibly useful tool for ensuring consistency in your designs and helping you position things accurately.
In this recipe, we are going to take a look at rulers and how to enable and disable them. We will learn to change the units of measurement that are used, control whether they run across each page individually or right across the entire spread, and even reset the origin point that the ruler starts measuring from.
Getting ready
To complete this recipe, simply open InDesign on your system and open a new document with 12 pages, as shown in the Creating a new document recipe.
You will also need to ensure the rulers are enabled; this can be done from the View menu, where you will see an option for Show Rulers. If the option says Hide Rulers, it means the rulers are already enabled.
