As with any other management plan, a schedule management plan is a how-to guide. While this plan helps you get your schedule priorities in gear, it may be a plan that you wouldn't use in the real world, because those who schedule, schedule. They already understand how to put together a schedule baseline and the rules of the organization. But what if you are new to scheduling? What if your customer needs more clarity on how the schedules will be created and updated? What if you don’t have a schedule coordinator? Oh, the horror! I mean, you can do this! Now, it may be realistic to at least get everyone on the same page about the rules and how changes will be managed.
You probably will not be tested on the value of the schedule management plan, but it is considered part of the integrated project management plan.
