Gather the business rules from the requirements gathering.
How to do it...
Data Rules differ from report calculations. These rules are the way information is transformed and manipulated. These rules can potentially change or modify the source information.
1. Open your data lineage spreadsheet and create an additional tab named Data Rules, as shown in the following screenshot:
2. Add columns to the spreadsheet for Rule #, Rule Type, and Logic, as follows:
3. Define the different rule types; examples are as follows:

Data Standardization
It is a good practice to include the source for the data rule, that is, who provided the information to you for the rule and when.
