Using smart centerlines
Have you taken advantage of the new CENTERLINE and CENTER MARK commands? Every once in a while, AutoCAD introduces a new feature that I didn’t see coming, and this is one of them. I didn’t even know I needed this functionality until it was here!
First, let’s look at the CENTERLINE command.
Associated centerlines
When using the new CENTERLINE command, the centerline objects are associated with other objects, so when the objects are modified, the centerlines will maintain their association and automatically remain centered as needed:
- Open the
4-5_Using
CENTERLINES.dwg
file. - Using the In-Canvas View Controls, restore the Custom Model Views | 1-Using Centerlines named view.
- Using the Annotate ribbon and the Centerlines panel, select the Centerline command.
- Select the TOP and BOTTOM lines of the POLYLINE shape to place the first CENTERLINE object.
